A double main event winner and a first time main event winner are the headlines of the night at MVS…

By DJ Everett

With multiple storms rolling through much of southern Idaho, Magic Valley Speedway would not bow down to mother nature on Pacific Steel & Recycling Night as a great crowd buckled in for an exciting night of racing!!

For the first time this year, the Quale’s Electronics Jr Stingers were presented with double main events.  The first 12 lap main event saw Kristopher McKean jump out to the early lead.  A couple of cautions would come out in this one slowing the pace a bit but when they went back to green flag racing with one lap to go, McKean’s car would lose power coming off of turn 2 handing the lead over to Adam Johnson.  Johnson would hang on to that lead to the checkers giving the young man his first career Jr. Stinger win.

The first of two main events for the Bud modifieds would roll out onto the speedway.  Eric Weimer would be the early leader as the green flag flew and would lead the first few laps.  Eric Rhead would soon take over command of the top spot.  After that, Rhead would end this one early as he put a straightaway lead over the rest of the field and would take it all the way to the checkered flag over Lynn Hardy and Zach Webster.

The Quale’s Electronics Jr Stingers would come right back out for their second main event of the night.  As he did in the first main event, Kristopher McKean would be the leader when the green flag flew.  Caution flag would come out right away as four cars would stack it up in turn 2.  Back to green and Brayden Sweatfield would wrestle the lead away from McKean and would hang on to it all the way to the checkers adding another Jr Stinger win to his win total in 2019.

The Extreme Staffing Double Deckers would make an appearance tonight as it was just about over before it got started.  The team of Zach Rydalch and Rosalee Weller would grab the lead at the start and would never relinquish it.  The amazing duo of Rydalch and Weller would build an insurmountable lead that nobody could overcome which put them both into victory lane.  It was suggested that the two team up again for future double decker events.

The return of the Snake River Legends to the 1/3 mile oval after getting rained out earlier in the year was a great sight to see.  Jerry Davis would lead the opening laps but a caution would come out quickly for a spinning Brok Kidd coming out of turn 4.  Back to green and Davis would resume his lead but multi time winning legends driver and quick qualifier, Caity Miller, would soon find herself battling Davis for the top spot coming from the back of the pack.  The two would put on a great show running side by side for a few laps until Miller was finally able to put her machine out in front for good and cruise it to victory.  A happy Caity Miller stated that is was good to put Magic Valley Speedway in the win column finally.

The Project Filter Bombers would be up next for their main event.  Polesitter Beverly Meyers would lead the field through turns 1 and 2 but by the time they hit the backstretch, Ike Miller would be the leader.  Miller and Brandon Adams would wage war for the top spot as six time main event winner in 2019, Danny Gilliam started to make his presence known.  He would get by Adams and soon after that get by Miller for the lead.  Gilliam would start to drive away from everyone and would eventually earn his seventh win of the year.

The Bud modifieds would present themselves next for their second main event of the night.  Shawn Lester would lead early and would start to distance himself from the rest of the field.  The heavy hitters of Zach Webster, Lynn Hardy, and Eric Rhead would soon move through the field and chase after Lester.  Hardy would spin in turn 2 bringing out the caution which is what Lester didn’t want to see.  On the restart, Zach Webster would get by Lester for the number one spot with Eric Rhead in tow.  Rhead would try Webster down low a few times for the majority of the race but Webster would get a great run up high each time and hang on to the lead.  The two would enter lapped traffic late in the going which would be the defining moment of the race.  The two would cross the line with two laps to go with lapped cars right in front of them.  Webster would make contact with one of the lapped cars in turns 1 and 2 and that was the opening that Rhead was looking for as he passed Webster on the backstretch for the lead and would hang on to that lead for the next lap in a half for his second win of the night.

Next week is Race Fan Appreciation Night compliments of Extreme Staffing & Payroll.  Admission to the main grandstand is FREE!!!  Bring a friend and/or the entire family for a great night of racing that will feature the always exciting Magic Valley Pipe Midgets, Cactus Pete’s Streets, Denny’s Minis, Sawtooth Auto Sales Hornets, Pro 4’s, and Extreme Staffing Double Deckers.  Did we mention that you can view all of that action for FREE?  Yes……FREE to the main grandstand!!  Gates open at 5pm and Nascar racing at 7pm!!  We will see you this Saturday at greatest entertaining venue in all of the Magic Valley…….Magic Valley Speedway!!
